IPads & Apps for Children with Special Needs: The iPads in 50 States Initiative

Apps for Children with Special Needs (a4cwsn) is a comprehensive online guide to apps that can benefit children with special needs in home and school environments. They work closely with parents, educators and advocates to find the best possible tech-based resources for children. If you’re looking for an app to meet a particular educational need for your child, this is a great place to start your research!

a4cwsn has launched a national campaign to give 50 iPads to 50 extraordinary children in 50 states. They are currently seeking donations online via paypal, and are asking parents/educators to organize local fundraising efforts. Do you have a child with special needs? You can apply to be an iPad recipient through their website, too.

The best part? a4cwsn founder Gary is literally driving across the country to personally deliver the iPads. You can watch videos of the deliveries on their website. So far they have traveled more than  6000 miles. The goal? To personally deliver 100 iPads by the end of 2011.

The organization is also helping those involved with special needs children purchase an iPad2 at a significantly discounted rate of $199.

Stroll on over a4cwsn’s website or facebook page to find out more.
