Hop on board the Alphabet Train and try KneeBouncer’s free game! Are you unsure whether a KneeBouncer subscription is right for you and your little one? We get it! There are a lot of game sites geared towards young learners; it can be tough to decide which ones are right for your child and your budget. That’s why we want you to be able to try some of our games for free! Both Alphabet Train and our Interactive Calendar are free for your child to play and explore.
Alphabet Train is designed to teach toddlers and young preschoolers their ABCs in a fun and interactive way. Kids use a touchpad or mouse to match letters to the corresponding animal. If they choose the wrong animal, the letter slides back down to the bottom for them to try again. When they match correctly, an adorable animal pops up to say hello! Once all the animals have boarded the train, watch them drive by and wave hello! Then, play again.
Extend the Play
Your child can create their own alphabet train using toys and items they have at home! See if they can find something to match each letter of the alphabet and then line them up like a train! If you have a train set, use index cards to attach a different alphabet letter to each car. Then, mix them up and help your child name each letter and put them in order. If you don’t have a train set, you can use toy cars, blocks, magnet tiles, or anything you have a lot of that is easy for tiny hands to manipulate.
To extend the fun with Alphabet Train as a game, turn the sound off and name the letters on the screen out of order. Many children memorize their ABCs but may not grasp the individual letter names. Alphabet Train ensures your child learns to name and recognize each letter individually.
Another way to extend the fun of Alphabet Train is to look for animals in books and name them and the letters they begin with. Associating everyday objects with letters is scaffolding and helps cement literary concepts like letter names, sounds, and words! For a unique challenge, see if your child can find the same twenty-six animals used in our Alphabet Train game within their books!
Another fun transportation-themed extension is to create an alphabet parking lot. Create a parking lot with twenty-six spaces using a large, flat piece of cardboard. In each space, write a different uppercase letter. Then, using the color dot stickers you use for yard sale prices, write the alphabet again and attach the stickers to twenty-six different cars. Now, your little one can drive the cars around and match them to the correct parking space!
